NUGGETS
STARTED TRAIL RIDING AT 3 YEARS OLD AND HAS RECEIVED 15
MONTHS OF PROFESSIONAL DRESSAGE TRAINING
The more I work
with Nuggets, the better I like him. He is such
a friendly fellow. He was imprinted at birth and as been
handled consistently ever since. He loves to be groomed and
has his hooves trimmed regularly. He enjoys
round pen work, lunges, and obeys voice commands of
"walk, trot, canter and whoa". Nuggets has also
been ground driven with surcingle and long lines.
We set up obstacles and a bridge in our arena, and he thinks
it's fun to navigate around the obstacles and clip clop over
the bridge. As a yearling, in a class of 8 other Haflingers,
Nuggets earned 2nd Place in his first Halter Class, and has
traveled hundreds of miles in a trailer.
At 3 years old,
Nuggets began his riding training. He started riding
in the mountains of Central Oregon during February and March
2002. He enjoyed learning something new in the wide
open spaces. Since April 2002, Nuggets has been taking
dressage lessons 3 times a week. He trots and canters
circles and serpentines, turns on his forehand, does leg
yields, and trots over cavalletti. Our trainer says
Nuggets is very supple and quickly learns new moves.
In May 2002, Nuggets participated in several large riding
classes at the Oregon Gold Horse Show.
In October,
2002, Nuggets was
invited to participate in a dressage clinic. The clinician,
Margaret Dieckmann-Grosshundorf,
is a well known instructor from Germany and used German
techniques. Throughout her session with Nuggets, Margaret
kept saying, "I like this horse."
"I like his conformation and head set and
movement." "He is doing so well, at only 3
years old."
Nuggets comes
from very good blood lines. His sire, Navistar
has been Inspected and Classified and achieved a
"Silver" rating. Navistar
is out of imported Austrian parents. Nugget's dam,
Hailey, was imported from Germany and is a very pretty.
(Hailey's picture can be seen in the "SOLD"
section of horses.) Nugget's maternal half brother, Norstar, won All Breed Reserve
Champion Stud Colt in the NW, twice. He also placed 4th at
three of the largest Haflinger shows in the United States. (Norstar's
picture can also be seen in the "SOLD" section of
horses.)
Nuggets has a white mane and tail, a golden chestnut body, and a
narrow white stripe on his face. We estimate Nuggets
will finish growing at about 14.1 h. He has already
reached 14.0 h. Nuggets' correct
conformation and friendly temperament will make him a superb
gelding for pleasure riding, dressage, jumping, and/or
driving. He has received meticulous health care.
