IS A HORSE WHO LOVES YOU BACK
Ducati comes from a very
prestigious Haflinger family, still in Austria. Ducati's
maternal grandmother, Dunja, is also the grandmother of Dorata,
chosen as the World Champion Mare in 2000 and Abendstern, named
World Champion Stallion at the World Haflinger Show, held in
Ebbs, Austria in 2000. Ducati's sire, Saphir, is the only "S" line stallion
considered good enough to stand as stud at the
Fohlenhof in Ebbs, Austria. Saphir is a favorite schooling horse at
the Fohlenhof. He is such a calm, well mannered stallion, that he is used
to teach children how to vault. Ducati's dam, Darina, was classified
as an "Elite", GOLD rated mare in Austria.
Ducati was our first
imported Austrian mare. She was two years old when she arrived
at our facility. Ducati is very
intelligent, loves people, gets along
well with our other Haflingers. She has an extra sweet
personality, is very calm and wants to please.
Ducati has excellent ground manners, leads and trailers well,
loves her bath in the summer. Ducati has long legs and very
elegant movement, which she passed on to her first foal, Abra. Ducati
proved to be a very good mother. Abra was her first foal and
for the first few days after he was born, Ducati stuck very close to
him.
As Abra
tried out his legs and galloped around the pasture, Ducati's only
chance to eat was to grab a mouthful of hay as she ran by the pile,
following her new foal. At
1 1/2 years old, Abra looks very much like his mother and has a
similar personality - very friendly, intelligent and calm. He
measures 56" (14.0 h), has the same small star, no pink on his
nose, beautiful, solid golden color and bright, white mane and tail.
Before being sold in September, 2003, Abra had been introduced to
harness and was being ground driven outside and through an obstacle
course in our arena. |
